To understand the life path of New Orleans-based Alexa Pulitzer, you have to understand her passion for stationery. And to understand her passion for stationery, you have to know her roots. Growing up, Pulitzer's family owned Wembley, the largest necktie company in the world. As a child, she accompanied her father, Arthur, on design and buying trips to Lake Como, Italy, designing her first tie to carry the Wembley brand at a mere 16 years of age.
While working at Wembley, she experimented with line and form and pattern, evolving her medium to printing tone on tone, such as soft gray ink on gray paper — eventually leading her to create a series of architectural illustrations, just for fun. Today Pulitzer's bespoke wedding invitations and stationery can be found in more than 1500 boutiques, the likes of Bergdorf Goodman, Tory Birch, Anthropologie and Liberty of London.
Pulitzer’s bespoke wedding invitations and stationery, and countless other custom projects, are each crafted with precision and attention to detail from their start to finish, she demands the same from the papers on which her products are printed and in which they are packaged.
Pulitzer specifies Neenah® Folding Board in Felt Finish for its warmth, high-touch appeal and ability to perform with any type of print technique, from foil stamp, to white and metallic inks. She says the feel of the boxes encourage people to touch, the paper is perfect for writing, and creates a luxurious correspondence that you want to share.
This line is elegant and it’s personal, and aside from a whisper in an ear, it’s the only truly private communication today.
