The United States Postal Service (USPS) establishes regulations for the mailing of business and personal correspondence. We've provided some basic guidelines to assist in the design of your mail piece.
Postal Mailing Requirements
- If a mail piece is 1/4 inch thick or less, it MUST be at least 3 1/2 inches high by 5 inches long.
- All mailable matter MUST be at least .007 inches thick.
- The maximum size for mail pieces is 108 inches in combined length and girth.
- The majority of our cover weight papers are suitable for use as postcards, mailers, or business reply cards.
Letter size mail includes all envelopes and postal cards, as well as any mail piece less than 1/4" thick. It must be rectangular in shape, where length divided by height is not less than 1.3, nor more than 2.5. Nonstandard letter size mail that does not meet specific height to length ratios will be subjected to surcharge.
