The United States Postal Service (USPS) establishes regulations for the mailing of business and personal correspondence. We've provided some basic guidelines to assist in the design of your mail piece.
NOTE: Although we have obtained this information from current sources, it is best to remember that these are only guidelines. We suggest taking a sample of your design to your local Postal Business Center or post office for advice and approval. It may save you valuable time and expense.
Postal Mailing Requirements:
If a mail piece is 1/4 inch thick or less, it MUST be at least 3 1/2 inches high by 5 inches long.
All mailable matter MUST be at least .007 inches thick.
The maximum size for mail pieces is 108 inches in combined length and girth.
The majority of our cover weight papers are suitable for use as postcards, mailers, or business reply cards.
Laser Printing Tips:
For best results, begin by choosing a paper that is laser guaranteed.
Specifying a paper that has a lower caliper will aid in laser printing success.
Larger volume models of laser printers usually handle envelopes better than smaller desktop models.
