Neenah Paper (NYSE: NP) is once again bringing innovation to supply chain management with enhancements to its Strategic Planning & Optimization Tool (SPOT).
"Released nearly two years ago, SPOT represents a fundamental shift in how we approach and manage our business," says Todd Olson, customer logistics manager for Neenah. "Historically, our industry has trended toward a broad and deep inventory model. SPOT allowed us to partner with our customers to grow the category more profitably and the customer response has been overwhelmingly positive."
Building on this success, Neenah Paper recently launched the second phase to SPOT. The enhancements to this tool will allow Neenah to determine how available their top-selling items are within a given market and assess the velocity at which those items are moving. What’s particularly unique is Neenah’s ability to present the data in a variety of ways that help a customer make quick and informed decisions.
“For example,” explains Olson, “in a relatively short period of time, we can determine the availability and velocity of our top items within a market and work collaboratively with our customers to optimize their inventory. Collaboration is key.”
According to Neenah, the enhancements to SPOT are available now and are actively being utilized by the Supply Chain organization. “SPOT will continue to be an iterative process,” says Olson. “Plans for future enhancements are already in the works for late 2011.”
